Message from Ken

Although I have written or contributed to well over 60 books, many of the studies I have taught have never been published. This is what happens when you’ve been teaching for 53 years! But this year (2025) I am turning 80, and as my wish to you, I will be publishing here transcripts of some of the series that were recorded over the past several decades.

Let me start from the beginning. I had a Bible church background but I did not have a relationship with Jesus until my real conversion in June 1967 when I graduated from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland with a Bachelor of Science degree. On that night I realized that the Scriptures are God’s blueprint for living life, and I knew that I needed to learn them. I found myself at Dallas Theological Seminary in January 1968 as a six-month-old believer. That first year was a painful time of transition for me because of my involvement with psychedelic drugs, Eastern mysticism, and dabbling in occultism. Because of this I was consciously engaging in an agonizing worldview transition, and I gratefully encountered resources that helped me on this journey.

Francis Schaeffer’s first book, Escape from Reason, was published in 1968 as was his book, The God Who Is There, and this provided the concept of worldviews to me that I had not previously encountered. I also discovered the writings of C. S. Lewis for the first time, because I had never heard of him until I arrived at Dallas. My first reading of Mere Christianity at that time was revolutionary because of the way it synthesized so many elements and put them together in a clear, consistent, coherent, and comprehensive way. It was in December of 1968 that I had a kind of epiphany in which a biblical worldview converged in my heart and mind that organized and ordered all things for me.

I completed my Th.M. from Dallas in 1972 and began a career as a writer, teacher, and mentor with a variety of ministries, including Search Ministries and Walk thru the Bible; I also taught and was college chaplain for three years at the King’s College, then in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Along the way, I got a Ph.D. from NYU in 1985 and a D.Phil. from Oxford University in 1994.

In 1993 I founded Trinity House Publishers, a publishing company dedicated to the creation of Christian educational books and resources. In 1995, I founded Reflections Ministries with the mission of amplifying and sharing the profound insights that have shaped my lifelong journey of following Christ. Finally, I began the Museum of Created Beauty in 2023 to explore the beauty of the Creation and leverage it to deepen our wonder and to draw us to God.

On a national and international level, I have done an extensive amount of speaking and teaching throughout the United States and in various countries around the world. And on a local level in Atlanta, I teach four studies a week and lead seven small discipleship groups on a monthly basis. I am also engaged in one one-on-one discipleship, mentoring, and spiritual direction.

This year (2025) marks the 50th anniversary of my first book, God I Don’t Understand, which is being rereleased with updates on what has changed in the last 50 years.
